It has been more than a year since the last blog/substack post – and it has been mainly because:
a) Found a queer partner to get queer married to in December (cishet appearing coupling, so we get to get legal)
b) Figuring out what to do with this substack – since Instagram is the main place that I post on. Only, the algorithm and meta and everything has been awful and weird and just bad really.
c) Would like to make an open pitch for my services as a visual note-taker and illustrator (prices are on a sliding scale depending on the project and my interest levels in it! e.g. queer discounts, advocacy work discounts/volunteering etc.)
d) Wanted to share some fun stuff I just drew this weekend! (and this is also a sample of the memory-making and vibe-remembering art I would like to do for friends and other groups)
My fiancé is a Shadow Master (Shadowdark Role-Playing Game Master) and we have a little party (literally) of a goblin, two halflings, and two dwarves:

This was me doodling on paper during the session and then using Procreate to piece it together with some cool colouring and textures.
And today at the fiancé’s place, there was a chill tabletop game session which I could only be somewhat present in. PMDD (Premenstrual dysphoric disorder) symptoms hit me hard about half the month, and today was one of those low-energy, low-social-energy, irritability just almost at simmering point days.
Solution: draw.
E.g. Draw the very cute dexterity and stacking game Burger Balance.

Being present doesn’t mean that you have to be engaging at 100%. Being there as a quiet observer or small-level chirping friend also works. The focus on drawing meant that I was keeping some motion in my limbs and mind, and it distracted me enough to look at cool things like this expansion of Wingspan:

So this is a long-winded way of saying:
a) I want to keep posting on Substack.
b) I am still figuring out what that might look like.
c) I think it is still important to share these moments of joy with others.
Sending hope, and let me know if you would like any illustrations and things!
